Colombo, May 6 (Daily Mirror) - Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya stated that she will respect any action taken by the Election Commission if her recent remarks in Moratuwa are deemed a violation of the Election Law.
Speaking to the media after casting her vote at the 2025 Local Government elections, the Prime Minister clarified that her comments were not intended to breach any election regulations.
“I clearly stated at the time that our campaign activities had concluded and should come to an end. If my statement is considered a violation, I will fully respect whatever action the Election Commission decides to take. The law must be applied equally—whether to a citizen or the Prime Minister,” Amarasuriya said.
