PHIs urge proper waste disposal after Dansals

Colombo, May 14 (Daily Mirror)- The Public Health Inspectors’ Association has urged organizers of recent dansals to properly dispose of the waste generated during these events.

Chairman Upul Rohana stated that improper garbage management could contribute to the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and chikungunya, which are currently on the rise in Sri Lanka

PHI's just want to be in the news. Not only after Dansals, must always be the case. Make it a habit to dispose waste responsibly and with duty of care.

Sadly some people throw away cups, plates, lunch sheets, sili bags and stuff everywhere near dansal. You cannot teach pigs to take a bath.

Aiyo these PHI , they should help to make policies and processes to follow all , and help enable everyone in the nation. Yes you can do comminication always comes after the drama. so impact is so low. Try to build impactful general processes to follow. And help people to follow them

I have been writing about the importance of having many garbage bins in the cities, so that people can dispose all waste into them without throwing on the streets or lakes and drainages. But this is not being heeded. Hope under 'Clean Sri Lanka' program these bins can be provided.

Garbage bins should be chained and padlocked (or even welded ) into a permanent structure. It won’t last for even two days excuse the druggies lift them and sell them for scrap!
