Colombo, April 17 (Daily Mirror) - The Public Health Inspectors' Union (PHIU) has decided to assign at least 50 Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) daily during the upcoming exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Dekma) at the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
The exposition is scheduled to be held for 10 days starting tomorrow (18th).
The PHIs will be deployed to ensure the health, hygiene and convenience of the large number of devotees expected to attend.
The Health Inspectors have requested devotees to minimise the use of polythene and plastic, and to dispose of waste in designated areas.
A 24-hour drinking water supply will be in operation, with water quality being inspected every hour. Additionally, 150 mobile toilets have been set up to provide sanitary facilities, and waste disposal will be managed through the municipal wastewater system.
Meanwhile, a team of Public Health Inspectors has been assigned to inspect sanitation facilities, monitor food safety and control the spread of infectious diseases.
All dansals (food stalls) operating within the Kandy Municipal area must be registered with the Municipal Health Department. These dansals will be under constant inspection by Public Health Inspectors throughout the event.
