A PC and a Police Sergeant attached to the Colombo City Traffic were interdicted for humiliating four persons who were walking on the road without a curfew pass in Maradana, police said. The two officers had forced the four men to cross their arms and pull on their ears as a punishment for violating the curfew

Interdict for this? Isn't this a far better punishment than arresting the curfew violators and wasting police resources. In India the police simply baton charge the violators to chase them indoors

We say the video clip. These four violators were flagrantly disobeying the rules and what the two cops did was justified. Ultimately the lawmakers turned out to be the accused. What a joke. Continue in this fashion and all these curfew violators will not give a shit about law and order.

Police need to be educated but interdiction is disproportionate to the misconduct- obviously done in good faith but wrong. The 4 guys seem politically connected....what?

The punishment the two police officers gave these adult men behaving like children was much better than arresting the idiots and wasting police time and public money, A word of advice and warning should have been sufficient without making a drama of the situation. Remember that Police personnel are also under stress during this crisis.
