Owner of fire-gutted elders’ home granted bail

Colombo, June 11 (Daily Mirror) - The Horana Magistrate's Court today (11) ordered the release on bail of the owner of the "Mawpiya Sewana Senehase Kädella" elders' home in Batagoda, Horana, who had been arrested and remanded in custody following a recent fire at the facility.

Although the suspect was not physically produced before court by prison authorities today, a panel of lawyers appeared on his behalf.

After considering the facts presented by the defense counsel, the Magistrate ordered the suspect's release on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and two personal bails of Rs. 1 million each.

In addition, the court imposed an overseas travel ban on the suspect, prohibiting him from leaving the country. 

The case is scheduled to be called again on the 25th of this month.
