Colombo, March 11 (Daily Mirror) - Over Rs. 12 billion in Aswesuma beneficiary allowances for March, under the Aswesuma Welfare Benefit Payment, will be credited to the respective beneficiary accounts by tomorrow (12), the Finance, Planning and Economic Development Ministry said.

Ministry Additional Commissioner R.G.R. Rajapaksa said that an allowance of Rs. 12,597,695,000 will be credited to 1,732,263 families by tomorrow.

All beneficiaries can receive their allowances through their designated bank accounts.

There must be an end date to free handouts. We can't afford to give out handouts to people of working age and without disabilities.

Only people who are very old amd have disabilities should receive this payment and all others should be part of clean Sri Lanka programme in order to qualify. It was recently published that many use this money fir buying Alchohol and drugs. That is why drug trade is so flourishing here.

When they get free money they will not make any effort to find a job. The receipients of these payments who are not disabled or very old should be required to join clean Sri Lanka movement in order to receive the payment. If not, they should not be eligible for anything.

These recipients who are physically capable must be required to spend a minimum number of hours on community service labor. This will surely reduce the unnecessary applicants from lining up to take free money at the expense of the working tax payer.
