Over 8,000 ‘Dansals’ registered, PHIs urge for eco-friendly practices

Colombo, May 12 (Daily Mirror) - A total of 8,742 ‘Dansal’ stalls have been officially registered across Sri Lanka in celebration of Vesak, according to the Public Health Inspectors’ (PHI) Union.

Union Chairman Upul Rohana noted that the Western Province, particularly the Colombo Municipal Council area, has recorded the highest number of these alms-giving stalls.

As preparations continue, Rohana appealed to organisers to reduce the use of polythene and plastic in their food distribution efforts.
