Over 400 school dropouts due to abuse, violence: PM

Colombo, April 7 (Daily Mirror) - Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya revealed today that some 425 children have left school, while six have committed suicide due to abuse and violence in both government and private schools so far from 2025.

Responding to a question raised by SJB MP Chamindrani Kiriella, the Prime Minister told Parliament that a total of 1,026 cases of abuse and violence have reported, in both government and private schools, from 2015 to 2025.

She said 425 school dropouts and six incidents of suicide have been reported during the same period.
