Rein in the stray dogs, that have become a menace. If blue cross people object, then recover this amount spent by Health ministry from them. Stray dogs cannot take priority over peoples life.

This is a very small number. Dogs have all the rights to do whatever they want. We humans need to know stay home, not to invade the personal spaces of dogs. It is our duty to provide enough food to stray dogs, if we fail this, dogs have the rights to bite us.

My friends and I go cycling, two of them were bitten and needed rabies shots, These stray dogs can get very aggressive and it puts our lives in danger on the road trying to avoid getting bitten not to mention the mess they can make when they pull garbage bags and the countless number of times they caused accidents by running across the street all of a sudden, the list goes on. These issues should have been addressed ages ago but of course in Sri Lanka we wait until things get completely out of hand and then take drastic measures that only put a band aid on it.

Stray dogs have become a real problem in religious places. People bring puppies at night and leave them there knowing that no one would harm them. Even inside Buddhist Shrines, dogs sleeping. These abandoned dogs smell bad and it's not appropriate to let them sleep inside such holy places. Worshipers cannot sit in such places that are full of ticks.

Anybody who tries to walk their dog on a leash or cycle or even walk down a street knows how dangerous stray dogs can be, they can and will bite, they are a safty hazard for pedestrians and motorists and a health hazard. It is time to effectivly manage strays in a way that benefits both people and the dogs themselves.

Without delay, the president and the subject minister must take a decision on the stray dog menace. In Sri Lanka, whether in the north or south you cannot visit a new area. Stray dogs and dogs reared by people but kept free to roam anywhere can bite you. Please follow what happens in the developed countries with respect to dogs and implement similar measures without delay. Catch all dogs roaming on the roads and put in dog santuaries; if there is no fund for that destroy them in a humane manner

Ostentatious animal lovers are to be blamed for this. Keep feeding them and allowing them to multiply on streets to satisfied their egos without finding or helping to find a real solution. They come with their fancy cars with pots of food the dogs who end up biting and infecting the poor on foot, bicycles and motorbikes as dessert.

Look at all the triggered sadists here, calling for these innocent dogs and puppies to be destroyed and killed. A stray dog or any dog would only attack and bite, should it be subject to severe cruelty and abuse. Dogs are amongst the most intelligent of animals and would not harm one should they not beat them, throw rocks at them and threaten them especially if they have puppies nearby. It’s an animal instinct of survival to defend themselves. They can’t talk for God’s sake. Good grief, reading these comments posted here makes me sick. Calling for the culling of Man’s best friend? No doubt these people are so vile and scum, devoid of any love and compassion in their lives. If a dog be it stray or otherwise chases you, stop, remain calm and just talk to it, instead of trying to harm it. You will see how they immediately stop their antics and change their behaviour. 45 years of experience with dogs and counting. Much better than any human interaction to be honest.
