The Department of Motor Transport has been unable to issue number plates for more than 100,000 newly registered vehicles due to the suspension of number plate printing for the past six months.
A department spokesperson said the highest number among these vehicles are motorcycles, totaling 127,745. In addition, 26,894 cars, 5,809 three-wheelers, 1,868 dual-purpose vehicles, and 2,122 land vehicles have been registered without receiving plates.
During this period, 25,526 electric vehicles have also been registered, including 3,222 electric cars, 22,133 motorcycles, 155 three-wheelers, and 5 vans.
Meanwhile, the suspension of number plate printing has caused a sharp increase in the fees charged by private businesses that prepare vehicle number plates.
It has been reported that the task of printing number plates will be handed over to a private company through a tender process.
