Opposition hands over no-confidence motion against Deputy Minister Aruna Jayasekera

Colombo, August 12 (Daily Mirror) - The Opposition in Parliament handed over the no-confidence motion against Deputy Defence Minister Aruna Jayasekera to Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne today.

Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka told journalists that all Opposition MPs are supporting the motion.

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman said more than 30 Opposition MPs have signed the motion.

The fate of the motion will be decided upon by the party leaders next week.

Waste of resources, public money and Parliamentary time for a losing battle. What to do. Not concerned about the waste, may be they are used to waste public funds and that is in their blood!

This is the right move. Even though it will be defeated the gov will be forced to defend him just like pohottuwa had to defend keheliya. Certainly, Aruna J cannot be defence minister considering his role as MI head during the 2018 period,

Given the majority represented by JVP in the parliament, the outcome is obvious. However, this is how democracy should work. Accountability of the parliament can be enhanced only through this type of challenges.
