Opposition alliance is better, people can now defeat fraudsters altogether: Deputy Minister

Colombo, Oct. 27 (Daily Mirror) - Aligning of the opposition parties is better as people can defeat those involved in fraud and corruption altogether as a single group, Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe said today.

He told reporters that the people are with the National People's Power (NPP) government and the government will move forward with the people in a stable manner.

He said this responding to a question on the joint opposition alliance which was formed with several opposition parties.

“We have no fear of the opposition alliance. It is better for them to align. Then, people can defeat those involved in fraud and corruption altogether as one group,” he said.

Commenting on the Provincial Council elections, he said there are lots of legal barriers for holding the PC elections and that it should be held after resolving all those issues.

The Joint Opposition which comprises parties such as the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), United National Party (UNP), National Freedom Front (NFF) and others, teamed up for a common programme against the government.

Absolutely correct. People, voters, need to identify the whole spectrum of deshapaaluwos that are corrupt and involved in criminal activities at different scales. Hitherto it had been difficult as they had been pointing their fingers at the rivals and calling them "Anna Hora" and vice versa. Now that NPP government has started a campaign of liquidating these criminal elements, the rogues have determined to come to together to show solidarity, and at the same time, to deceive the public. Instead they have, all as a bunch, owned up as the multi-skilled multi-party robbers of the nation. Public are now much more educated allowing them to identify this band of villains. The rogues have been caught in the trap, and this time no escape. The public will help the government to destroy these rogues and clean up our society for good.

Well said, majority of the politicians and their stooges are gathering their flock, probably a trap ending where their stooges get trapped and the big wigs escape. All these meetings behind closed doors think they are smart, when have any opposition party and or any party supported this Govt where corruption is concerned. Two Ministers in the current cabinet has fraud investigations being swept under the carpet. So are allegations against many other politicians in the current government. People expected no one to be above the law but now what is happening is those in the ruling party is exempted by investigators
