Colombo, Dec. 19 (Daily Mirror) - Independent MP Ramanathan Archchuna today created a commotion in Parliament, protesting the non-availability of food in the members’ canteen when he went for lunch.

“I went to the members’ canteen for my lunch and found only red rice and gravy available. This is a bambu Parliament,” the MP shouted.

Pre Maithripala brought meals from home .He had the chance to close this nonsense.We have canteens at offices but meals at market prices.

I he is not satisfied with what is available then let him have his lunch in a restaurant outside. The canteen in the parliment should be closed and members should make their own arrangements for their meals from outside. why waste public money in maintaing a food outlet in parliment. on the other hand they can hand over the canteen to a private catering company and this company can run the canteen and charge the customers and the members should be made to pay for their meals. this is is the best option.
