One dead, 57 injured in bus accident in Pottuvil

A bus carrying a group of pilgrims from Akkarapattu to Pottuvil veered off the road and crashed in the Komari area within the Pottuvil Police Division this evening.

Police said 57 passengers were injured and admitted to the Komari, Thirukkovil, and Pottuvil hospitals. One passenger, a 74-year-old resident of Welimada, succumbed to his injuries.

Pottuvil Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
