Norwood three-wheeler accident: Six preschool children injured

Colombo, Sept. 12 (Daily Mirror) - Six preschool children and a teacher were injured in a tragic accident this morning (12) on the Hatton–Bagawanthalawa main road in the Norwood Neweligama area.

Police said the accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. when a three-wheeler carrying the children and their teacher, traveling at high speed, collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. An unsecured spare part attached to the three-wheeler’s front wheel reportedly struck the car, causing it to overturn and sustain severe damage.

The injured were rushed to Dickoya Base Hospital. Hospital sources confirmed that, except for one child, all others were discharged after receiving outpatient treatment.

Norwood Police said the woman driving the car was arrested on suspicion in connection with the incident.

6 children, teacher and three wheeler driver . Altogether 8. I suppose the car driver is at fault. Now don’t say it’s a ‘luxury’ car! Must’ve be a common one. But it’s a car, the other is a ‘poor’ 3 wheeler , so even if the 3 wheeler driver is at fault, the car driver needs to be arrested.

If there is no accident on any day, that would be a surprise. The big headed big talk Transport minister is sleeping. Why not appoint him as Minister of something else and hand this over to someone capable.

Three wheelers are not designed to carry so many passengers to begin with but add speeding to the mix and you have a disaster waiting to happen. Glad no one died in this very preventable accident.
