Northern railway line train services to resume from April 9

Colombo, April 5 (Daily Mirror) - The Railways Department has announced that train services along the Northern Railway Line will resume from April 9, following the completion of reconstruction work on sections damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.

Accordingly, trains will operate between Colombo Fort and Kankesanthurai (KKS), restoring a key transport link to the Northern Province.

The Department said that seat reservation facilities are now available from today for the train departing Mount Lavinia Railway Station at 5:15 a.m. to KKS, as well as for the intercity express train operating from KKS to Mount Lavinia at 1:50 p.m.

Railway officials said that the restoration of services is expected to significantly ease passenger travel and support economic activities disrupted by the cyclone.
