Normal bus fare reduced by 11.14 %; minimum fare Rs. 34

The normal bus fare has been reduced by 11.14 per cent with effect from midnight today, National Transport Commission (NTC) Director General Nilan Miranda said today.

He told a news conference at the Government Information Department that the minimum bus fare has been reduced from Rs. 38 to  Rs. 34.

He said the normal bus fare was increased by 20 per cent on November 11, 2020, during the covid pandemic as buses were only permitted to transport passengers at the seating capacity at that time.

He said 10 per cent was reduced from the 20 per cent which was increased in 2020 while another 1.14 per cent was reduced considering the diesel price reduction on August 1.
