Colombo, Feb 14 (Daily Mirror) - The Power Minister announced today that the daily power cuts will no longer be imposed from today (14 February) following the successful addition of a Norochcholai Power Plant unit to the national grid.

The previously inactive plant has now resumed operations, with one of its three generators reconnected, supplying 300 megawatts of electricity.

Well done CEB! Now a highly professional unbiased technical investigation to the incident reasonably early. That will restore the public faith on this somewhat maligned (perhaps unfairly) organisation.

Hope No naughty monkeys will be appointed to this investigating committee. After all in this island of the apes we depend on them to have coconuts and power. We elected a govt that dont know how to use the power we gave them and we have voters who dont have power to use thanks to a previously unknown enemy - the monkey.

Good but Govt must investigate the CCTV camera footage released ,the details of the four legged monkeys sabotaged the Panadura transformer.Govt.must not be linent to the black sheeps loitering in the Govt.depts.must be weeded out or take tough action

One more thing. This technical investigation must clear all protection and circuit breaker operations at Panadura Sub that there were no undue delays. This incident has two parts. Was there any plant failure at Panadura Sub (such as instrument transformers), were the protection operations the way it’s designed quick enough to isolate the fault before loosing stability? The second part is the whole transmission network. Obviously there has been an imbalance. CEB says battery storage will alleviate this issue. What else can be done. Could Indian interconnection provide stability for our small and week (on Sundays) CEB network? It’s a good time to have a comprehensive analysis of our network and this is a golden opportunity.
