No mention of piriven education in budget proposal: Battaramulle Seelarathana Thera
Colombo, Feb 18 (Daily Mirror) - The recent 2025 budget proposals did not include any mention of the Piriven education sector, leader of the Janasetha Peramuna Ven. Battaramulle Seelarathana Thera said.
Addressing the media, he said that while the President highlighted allocations for the education sector, there was no reference to funding for Piriven education.
"Piriven education plays a crucial role in providing student monks with a proper education in Buddhism, ensuring its preservation for future generations. It is concerning whether the President simply forgot to mention Piriven education in the budget proposal or if there is another reason behind its exclusion," he said.
"Therefore, I stand here today to remind the President. After this government came to power with the support of the Buddhist community, we have received information indicating that we are being sidelined by the government," Seelarathana Thera added.
