No immediate need to arrest ex-CID Chief, says Bribery Commission

Colombo, July 22 (Daily Mirror) - The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today that there is no immediate requirement to arrest retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Rohan Premarathna, the former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The statement was made during the hearing of a motion filed by Premarathna seeking anticipatory bail in the event of an arrest by the Commission.
CIABOC further informed the court that Premarathna has been instructed to appear before the Commission on August 4 to provide a statement regarding the matter.
