Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - An education reform is required to ensure a 13 year continuous education where no student needs to drop out of the school system, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.

Making a special statement on the education reforms, he told Parliament that the new education reforms will include reforms to ensure a 13 year continuous education.

The President said if a child is absent from school for three days continuously, a state official must conduct a personal investigation into the absence of the child.

IF A CHILD DOESN'T REPORT TO SCHOOL AND THE SCHOOL HASN'T BEEN INFORMED BY THE PARENTS, THE SCHOOL SHOULD CALL THE PARENTS TO CHECK ON WHY THE CHILD HASN'T COME TO SCHOOL, INVESTIGATIONS ARE ALL GOOD, PARENTS MUST BE RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE SURE THEIR CHILDREN ATTEND SCHOOL ON A REGULAR BASIS AND OR INFORM THE SCHOOL OFFICE IF THE CHILD IS ILL OR OTHER REASONS, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18. Education Reform is a must and no doubt about it : How and when is a big question? It needs a lot of time and it need a lot pedagogical planing ?’it needs a lot of resource persons , it needs a lot experts in education fields: The best option we have if you really want to change education, please discuss with many our expatriate Sri Lankan educationists, professors, teachers and other educators who live abroad and you have experience in modern educational pedagogical studies : Believe me with digital technology we can do this if the government initiates this . There a lot of new generation in teaching profession in Europe and western countries: why not use their skills , talent and experience, Of course , local teachers and academics would not like this for their inferiority complexes: our should know this .

The leaders of many other Asian nations and other continents have already met and discussed with the US President on reducing tariffs and they have succeeded in achieving significant tariff reductions.

Very important Education system should be based on the type of job vacancies available now, and in future. Now there are lots of school leavers educated to 'A' level or University completed, but does not fit into job markets. There are of government and private sector institutions looking to fill their positions, but can not find candidates suitable for their job openings.
