No IMF condition to restructure domestic debt: Gammanpila challenges government

Foreign creditors would want domestic debt restructured along with their debt. Nothing to do wih IMF. But IMF wants us to agree to debt restructuring with foreign creditors. So this is want they want. Harsha was saying the same thing last week but has now stopped as he understands the situation.

IMF agreement or not what has to be done has to be done. We cannot ask foreign donors to reorganise our loans without us putting our domestic house in order. The local debt servicing is now at ridiculous proportions. The only way to keep going without taking the bull by its horns is to further increase taxes and undertake further domestic borrowing to service the local debt. We need to have a solution to the problem rather than admiring it and not having the guts to take the hard decisions and sort it out.

I think it was the international debtors who wanted the government to restructure domestic debts. They want SL to make an equal contribution. Ganangpillai is a waste of time.

Without DDO, can the govt afford to pay all those interest etc?. No, they cannot. So it has to be done to be sutainable. If not the govt will go bankrupt locally as well. So SHUT UP and let let the govt do its job.
