New women-only pink floor and spa at Sofia Hotel

Sofia Colombo City Hotel yesterday launched its women-only Pink Floor and Pink Spa, aiming to attract the growing market of female travellers in Sri Lanka and abroad.

Speaking at the launch, Head of Sales and Marketing Mithisha Silva said the initiative was designed to offer a safe, comfortable, and relaxing experience tailored specifically for women.

Located on the hotel’s sixth floor, the Pink Floor and Pink Spa feature décor, amenities, and services focused on women’s comfort and well-being. Silva added that the concept positions the hotel as a leader in women-friendly hospitality through strategic partnerships and targeted marketing.

“All staff on the women-only floor are female and professionally trained to deliver high-quality service while maintaining a respectful and courteous environment,” Silva said. He also emphasized that the spa operates in line with strict scientific and hygienic standards.

The dedicated floor includes women-only common areas and spa treatments customised to support women’s physical and mental well-being.

Speaking at the event, Spa Director Ruby Sanches of Tonic Wellness said the initiative aims to change the perception of spas as mere luxury services, highlighting their importance to overall health.

“This floor is exclusively for women and staffed entirely by female professionals. The themed rooms are designed to suit women’s tastes and needs, with specialised amenities and services,” Sanches said. She added that massages, skincare, and beauty treatments are tailored to women’s bodies and provided in a calm and relaxing environment by experienced therapists.

Guests can choose from a range of packages designed to relieve fatigue, restore vitality, and promote holistic wellness. Enhanced security measures and controlled access ensure women can enjoy the facilities with complete peace of mind.

With the number of solo female travellers on the rise, Sanches said the initiative also helps promote Sri Lanka as a safe and welcoming destination, offering respectful and women-focused hospitality beyond the conventional hotel experience. (Pix by Kushan Pathiraja)
