Anuradhapura, March 25 (Daily Mirror) - A new style of uniform for the police officers on duty at the upper compound of the Sri Jayasri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura was introduced today.
The officers who assumed duties last morning in the new uniform received the blessings of the Mahasangha, including Anuradhapura Atamasthanadipathi Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, who chanted Seth Pirith.
The new uniform was introduced in response to Ven. Hemarathana Thera’s request to Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles and IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon. The proposal was implemented under the supervision of SSP Anuradhapura Division Thilina Hewapathirana.
Several senior police officials, including OIC Udamaluwa Police Post W.C.L.R. K.B. Wetthewa, were present at the occasion.

What a joke... this is the reason this country can never be successful. There are thousands of Temples in India but none of them will call upon the State to change their uniforms according to there whims and fancies. Instead they will have their own security in whatever uniform inside the temple. This is just pure uneducated methods.

Honestly is this a necessity? Who pays for these uniforms? Is this what's done from our taxes? Pathetic!!!
