New resolution on SL adopted at HR Council with 20 votes in favour

The new resolution on ‘Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka’ A/HRC/51/5, that was presented at the 51st regular session of the Human Rights Council has been adopted with 20 voting in favour while 7 voted against the resolution and 20 abstained from voting.

Along with Pakistan, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Eritrea, Bolivia and Uzbekistan voted against the resolution.

Twenty countries- United Kingdom, United States, Argentina, Armenia, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Honduras, Lithuania, Luxembourg ,, Malawi, Marshal Islands. Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Paraguay, Poland, Republic of Korea and Ukraine- voted for the resolution easily outnumbering Sri Lanka.

India, Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Japan are among the countries that abstained.

This is a resolution against former rulers, Mahinda Rajapakse. May be there will be another resolution against GOTA and others for the Easter Bomb blast, in the near future, unless Sri Lanka Govt. take some action to show the world that citizens in this country live safely. Ranil may get caught next time.

This resolution not against Sri Lanka and its people but against Rajapaksa Wickramasinghe corrupt and authoritarian regime. Those countries voted against it are not friends of Sri Lanka or its people, they are friends of Rajapaksa Wickramasinghe corrupt and authoritarian regime that have made our country bankrupt and its people hungry.

Who are those civilized nations and human rights protectors? The leaders of this resolution are the UK and USA. The rest are simply their followers and arse lickers. UK invaded the poorest countries in the world and robbed the little wealth they had. USA war machine destroyed countries to keep the defence industries.

Some people can’t understand the difference between right and wrong…. If your own government violates your own human rights, if you can’t get remedies from domestic mechanisms, it is only the word bodies like Human Rights Commission help and give remedies forcing the government to uphold rule of law and respect human rights of the very people they are duty bound to protect…. Sri Lanka is already a bankrupt nation and those countries who voted against the resolution will not support our people sending humanitarian aids or one way or other .. they are supporting each other because their governments are very corrupt and run by authoritarian regimes. Come out from your fantasy world, guys…. everything is burning around you…
