Colombo, June 26 (Daily Mirror) - A new cargo flight service between Kunming, China and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) commenced operations with its maiden flight yesterday.
S.F. Airlines deployed a Boeing 757-400 aircraft for the inaugural flight, which arrived at BIA from Kunming at 10:50 a.m., carrying 22 metric tons of cargo.
According to airport authorities, the new service will operate twice a week, with flights scheduled every Monday and Thursday between Kunming and Colombo.
The launch of this dedicated cargo air service addresses a long-standing logistical need, strengthening trade links and cargo connectivity between Sri Lanka and China.
Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Limited (AASL), Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema (Rtd.), said “I warmly welcome the launch of SF Airlines’ first scheduled all-cargo direct flight from Kunming to Colombo. This new service strengthens our partnership and will play a vital role in advancing Sri Lanka’s air cargo industry and enhancing regional connectivity.”
