Colombo, March 26 (Daily Mirror) - Nearly 40 donors have already been registered at the sperm bank of the Castle Street Hospital for Women in Colombo, Hospital Director Dr. Ajith Kumara Danthanarayana said.

He said that the hospital receives continuous telephone inquiries daily regarding sperm donation and provides the necessary information to those interested.

The first-ever sperm bank at Castle Street Hospital for Women in Colombo was launched on December 4, marking a significant advancement in reproductive healthcare.

"The primary objective of this initiative is to help parents suffering from infertility have children. Accordingly, fathers who come forward to donate sperm must undergo several tests," Dr. Danthanarayana said.

He also encouraged those interested in donating sperm to contact the hospital via the following phone numbers: 0112 67 89 99 / 0112 67 22 16.

Excellent, now those who cannot afford to go overseas for this treatment can access it at a cheaper cost. We hope Dr, Danthannarayana is making sure the doners are given a all round check including their family history of any illnesses to ensure the babies born have no issues after birth. Does the hospital have trained specialists to perform these IVF or other similar procedures?.

Carry on with family's political history and family doctor's report. Make sure to avoid transfer of genealogical diseases like Thalassemia at the time of surrogative/tube conception. Kudos health minister/ministry.
