Nawammahara railway crossing to close for renovation work

Colombo, June 4 (Daily Mirror) - The Railways Department has announced temporary traffic restrictions at the Nawammahara railway crossing near the Horape Sub-Station on the main railway line due to essential renovation work.

According to the department, the crossing, located at Mile 08, Chain 05, will be subject to the following traffic restrictions between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on the specified dates:

• June 5, 2026 – Vehicular traffic will be partially restricted.
• June 6, 2026 – Vehicular traffic will be completely restricted.
• June 7, 2026 – Vehicular traffic will be partially restricted.

The Department expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to motorists and other users of the crossing and requested the public to use alternative routes during the renovation period.

The department said that the restrictions are necessary to facilitate the safe and efficient completion of the essential maintenance work.
