Naval, fishing communities cautioned to be vigilant in coming days

Over the possibility of developing a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the southeast of the country during the next few days, the naval and fishing communities have been cautioned to be vigilant on this.

The Meteorology Department said thundershowers could be expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanturai to Hambantota via Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Pottuvil. Showers could also be expected at several places in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle during the evening or at night.

Meanwhile, heavy rains of more than 75 mm have been forecast in some areas of Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
