National inflation as measured by National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) eased to 22.1 percent in May on a year-on-year (YoY) basis from 33.6 percent in April.
The food inflation in May decelerated to 15.8% from 27.1 percent in April while non-food inflation declined to 27.6 percent from 39 percent.
The significant reduction in the rate of inflation in May is largely due to higher base effects that prevailed last year.
The Central Bank expects inflation to retreat to single-digit levels by the end of this year.

Retreat to single digits by the end of the year? Wow! Just wow! And how do they plan on doing that - where are the numbers, and statistics to support this claim? What economic levers are being pulled in order to get to this target? What does the road map look like? When many counties are are disclosing they expect to part of a recession or a ‘technical recession’ by the end of the year, this seems too good to be true! Would expect articles published to have the detail behind it to support the story - unless of course the intent is purely click bait?

What are you talking about, SL is already in a recession , Inflation has come down from 70% to 21% , if the interest rates are left the same by December inflation can hit 9% , i know it is a forecast but trend supports the forecast
