National early childhood care week from July 14

Colombo, July 9 (Daily Mirror) - The Women and Child Affairs Ministry will mark the National Week on Early Childhood Care and Development from July 14 to 20, with a series of islandwide programmes aimed at promoting the healthy growth and well-being of young children.

This year's programme will be held under the theme, "Towards a Developing Child World – A Sunbeam, a Happy Family."

The Ministry said the National Secretariat for Early Childhood Development has organised a range of awareness and educational activities across the country with the objective of nurturing a physically, psychosocially and intellectually developed generation of Sri Lankan children.

The week-long programme will target policymakers, preschool teachers and parents, focusing on key areas including maternal health for pregnant and lactating mothers, early childhood care, child development and nutrition.

The ministry said the initiative is aimed at strengthening awareness and encouraging collaborative efforts to improve early childhood care and development nationwide.
