National drive launched to restore cyclone-hit religious sites

Colombo,  January 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Presidential Media Division (PMD) said that the inauguration of the ‘Godanagamu Adhisthanaye Sanhinda’ national programme, aimed at reconstructing religious sites damaged by Cyclone Ditwah, will take place tomorrow (27) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

According to the PMD, more than 1,000 religious, cultural, and archaeological sites were damaged by the cyclone.

The programme is being implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs, with the goal of expediting reconstruction and restoring these sites for worship and other religious activities.
