Namal denies allegations over drug containers

Colombo, September 15 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa, responding to media questions today, condemned reports regarding two containers of raw materials allegedly intended for the production of “ICE” (Crystal Methamphetamine), which had left the port after being detected by the security forces.

Rajapaksa said he would reveal to the country both the reasons behind the allegations and those profiting from them until the accusations are proven false.

“We are ready to face the allegations concerning these two containers of raw materials. Since the day the NPP and the Yahapalana government came to power, all they have done is accuse us. We have been summoned before the CID, the Bribery Commission, the FCID and courts. Likewise, we are prepared to face any investigation regarding these drug container claims,” he said.

However, Rajapaksa said that the government must disclose the identity of the individuals actually involved in the container incident.
