NWSDB urges public to conserve water amid prevailing dry weather

Colombo, July 9 (Daily Mirror) - The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced of water supply interruptions in several areas as a result of the ongoing severe dry weather.

The NWSDB said that water levels in key reservoirs are rapidly dropping due to the prolonged drought, while water consumption has surged as people cope with the heat.

In light of limited availability of drinking water, the NWSDB urges the public to use water sparingly and responsibly, ensuring that it is distributed fairly for essential drinking and sanitary needs.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) requests the people to minimise activities such as washing vehicles and gardening, while using water only for necessary daily tasks.

The NWSDB is making every effort to reduce public inconvenience caused by the dry weather and advises consumers to use safe drinking water as sparingly as possible.

For inquiries, the public can contact the NWSDB Call Centre at 1939.
