Parliament, May 8, (Daily Mirror) - The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will hold a discussion shortly to decide on who will fill the national list slot that has fallen vacant as a result of the Supreme Court decision that Diana Gamage cannot function as an MP as she is not a citizen of Sri Lanka, party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said today.

“We will meet shortly to decide on the matter,” he told the Daily Mirror.

“Mujibur Rahman lost his parliamentary seat because of the decision made by us to field him as the SJB mayoral candidate for the Colombo Municipal Council at the local government polls scheduled to be held earlier. We will consider this fact when deciding on who will replace Diana Gamage,” he added.

Also, he said the Supreme Court had delivered a landmark judgment with regard to State Minister Gamage.

MP Nalin Bandara who informed Parliament on the judgment thanked the Supreme Court.

Appointing Mujibur Rahman will indeed be a fair, reasonable and welcome decision. Hope SJB does it.

How many more non citizens of srilanka sitting in the parliament, they should all vacate there seat Immediately without wasting public money, actions should be taken immediately to prevent non citizens becoming members of parliament in srilanka

Leaving parliament is just not good enough for her. She should pay back the tax payers money, she received being an MP because all that is invalid. They are not 'santhosam'! (Don’t you think a bogus doctor submitted a fake MBBS certificate and got employed and he received a salary of a doctor. and one day he gets caught, don’t you think he should give the money back he was paid as a doctor, when he was not. She should really pay back the money she obtained as MP, She should be charged a large fine as damages and sentenced to Jail. This is the only deterrent to prevent others from attempting similar crimes. Simply leaving parliament is not good enough.

Thank you Mr. Oshala Herath for your action while the SJB did not file a case as it should have been. What about the cases to unseat Fowzie, Wadiwel Suresh, etc. who ever supported the Pandora grade thieves. Cases on Harin and Manusha the judgements are overdue.
