Mishara’s 73 powers Sri Lanka to series victory over Zimbabwe

Colombo, Sept. 7 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka clinched the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with a dominant eight-wicket win in the decisive third match at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday (7).

The series was level at 1–1 going into the final game, with both sides aiming to secure momentum ahead of upcoming tournaments.

Batting first, Zimbabwe put up a competitive total of 191 for eight in their 20 overs. Their innings was built on aggressive stroke play, but Sri Lanka’s bowlers managed to keep the run rate under control in the final overs to prevent an even bigger score.

In reply, Sri Lanka’s batting unit delivered a much-improved performance after their collapse to just 80 runs in the second T20I. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis gave the visitors a flying start with a 58-run partnership. After their dismissal, Kamil Mishara took charge with a blistering 73 off 43 balls, supported by Kusal Perera’s rapid 46 off 26 deliveries.

Sri Lanka chased down the 192-run target with ease, reaching 193 for two in only 17.4 overs. Blessing Muzarabani was the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe, claiming two wickets, but the home side struggled to contain the Sri Lankan batters.

The victory sealed a 2–1 series win for Sri Lanka, providing a timely boost of confidence ahead of the Asia Cup.
