Colombo, May 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry has firmly denied recent reports claiming the imminent closure of the Sewanagala Sugar Factory.
Issuing an official statement, the Ministry clarified that no decision has been taken by the current government to shut down the factory.
"The reports circulating online are baseless and misleading," the statement said. "Contrary to these claims, the factory continues its operations under a new marketing strategy introduced by the present administration."
The Ministry further explained that the Sewanagala Sugar Factory, which was operating at a loss under the previous government, is now showing signs of recovery. "Efforts are underway to minimize losses, and necessary plans have already been set in motion to transform the factory into a profitable institution," it added.
Authorities urged the public to rely on verified sources for accurate information and reiterated their commitment to strengthening state-owned enterprises.
