Ministers accumulating social capital while people hit with economic burden: Namal

Colombo, April 8 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa today alleged that Ministers of the government are accumulating social capital while the people are battered with unbearable economic burden.

He told Parliament that people are faced with huge tax burdens and are facing unbearable economic pressure.

The MP said that though fuel prices were increased, the fuel allowance of government employees have not been increased.

"They still receive the fuel allowance equivalent to the March allowance. The government promised to increase salaries of the government employees every six months. The cost of living has gone up by 300 percent now. Is the government going to increase their salaries? Is the government going to intervene to pay an allowance to private sector employees,' he asked.
