Colombo, Sept. 28 (Daily Mirror) - Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister and Leader of the House Bimal Ratnayake highlighted that professionals must work together to contribute to the country’s development, stressing that no one can win alone.
He made these remarks while attending the 35th Annual General Meeting of the Road Development Authority (RDA) Engineers Association as the Chief Guest.
“The government has provided all the necessary facilities and freedom for professionals and working people. It is important for us to come together, as unity is a strength. Protecting the rights of the people is essential. While fighting for rights, we must also ensure that development work continues. Rights must be won without resorting to strikes. This government stands with the working people—do not doubt that,” Minister Ratnayake said.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, he announced that the highest financial allocations in the next four years will be directed toward improving the country’s infrastructure facilities. “Massive investments will be made in future development projects. Now that our government has been in power for a year, with proper understanding and cooperation, we should work as professionals to build a country where future generations can thrive,” he added.
The Minister also urged professionals to abandon divisions and instead resolve issues through unity and consensus. “Problems cannot be solved through disunity. Let us not allow divisions to destroy our common victory. We cannot build the country alone—both government and private sector must share the responsibility,” he noted.
Calling for a collective effort toward the vision of “A Rich Country – A Beautiful Life”, Minister Ratnayake said: “Let us all work together to create a fair and sustainable path forward. Together, we can achieve the goals of national progress.”
