State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera’s house at Sarathchandra Dias Mawatha in Pamunuwila had come under attack on Sunday night (18).
The watcher said extensive damages have been caused to the windows of the ground floor during the attack at about 11.00 pm. He pointed out that the glass panes of eight windows had been broken.
He said he was upstairs when he heard a noise of the window panes of the ground floor breaking and heard several individuals threatening the state minister’s son Venuka Ranaweera. He said none of the members of the minister’s family had been present in the house.
State Minister Ranaweeera said he was at home till about 9.00 pm and had left for his mother’s house in Malabe. He said he had been living in Malabe since his residence at Hunupitiya was destroyed by “Aragalaya” actvists.
“When the watcher informed me of the incident I rushed to the scene to find eight windows of the ground flood damaged with clubs and swords. I was able to watch the scene on the CCTV recordings. We had several problems involving my son when he was attending school. However, they were resolved and he is now studying in a foreign country," he said.
Sapugaskanda police are conducting further investigations. (Lal S.Kumara)
