Colombo, March 23 (Daily Mirror) - Public Security Minister Tiran Alles orders IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon to conduct an immediate investigation into the recent remark by former President Maithripala Sirisena on the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday disclosed that he is well aware of the true perpetrators behind the Easter Sunday bombings in 2019.
He made this disclosure while addressing reporters in Kandy.
"The suspects who are currently in remand custody in connection with the attacks are minor offenders. The real culprits are still at large. However, I am ready to shed light on the perpetrators of the Easter Sunday attacks and make a special statement if I am summoned to court," he stated.
Opposition MPs Mano Ganesan and Kavinda Jayawardene today called for the immediate arrest of Maithripala Sirisena and to interrogate him regarding the remark he made on Friday, stating that he is aware of the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks.

Sira's statement should be recorded and made public and he should take responsibility for accuracy of whatever he says. He cannot say what he hears from somewhere in such sensitive matter like this.

In 2021, Sirisena said "If someone tries to implicate me, I'll reveal everything" Why didn't Sirisena call explanations from Nilantha Jayawardena (NJ) who happened to be his most trusted police officer, for not informing him? Sirisena never wanted to pin the blame on NJ, why? If Sirisena put the blame on NJ, he would have revealed that he informed the President immediately after he got the message from India.
