The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the minimum Z-scores required for admission to various university courses based on the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination results.

The scores were released following a re-scrutiny of results and specify the minimum district-wise Z-scores needed for students to qualify for different fields of study.

According to the UGC, these Z-score cut-offs will guide the selection of candidates for the 2024/2025 academic year across all state universities.

Key figures from the 2024 A/L cycle are as follows:

Number of candidates who sat for the examination: 285,289

  • Number eligible for university admission: 177,920
  • Number who applied for university admission: 90,670
  • Number of students selected under the normal intake: 177,920

The UGC pointed out that the released Z-scores serve as a benchmark for fair and transparent university selection processes.
