Colombo, Sept. 14 (Daily Mirror) - Chemicals found in Middeniya have been identified as key ingredients for producing methamphetamine (ICE), the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board confirmed.
According to a report submitted to the Western Province North Crimes Division, 17 out of 20 samples collected from the site tested positive for methamphetamine-related substances.
The stash was unearthed on September 5 following the interrogation of organised criminal figure “Backhoe Saman,” who is currently in custody.
Subsequent investigations also led to the discovery of similar chemical stocks in Netolpitiya and Kandana.
The NDDCB said the samples from those two locations are still under examination, with reports expected to be handed over next week.
