Colombo, Dec. 19 (Daily Mirror) - Blood collection tubes meant for single use were washed and reused on several patients at a private medical laboratory in Laggala leading to a raid by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA).
The raid was carried out by CAA officers after receiving information about unsafe practices at the laboratory. During the inspection, officers also found expired blood testing tubes at the facility.
CAA officials said these practices could seriously harm patients and are clear violations of health and consumer protection laws. Legal action is being taken against those responsible.
The Consumer Affairs Authority said it will continue to carry out inspections and raids on institutions that put public safety at risk for profit, and urged the public to report such violations.
