Matara-Hambantota extension of Southern Expressway declared open

The Godagama-Barawakumbuka segment of the Southern Expressway (E01) was declared open for public by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, today.


With the opening of the new stretch, the total length of the Southern Expressway will be 222 kilometers.


There are six interchanges between Matara to Hambantota- (Aparekka, Beliatta, Kasagala, Angunakolapelessa, Barawakumbuka and Sooriyawewa)
