Mason arrested for abduction and rape

Colombo, August 26 (Daily Mirror) - A mason who raped and impregnated a 13-year-old schoolgirl was arrested by the Hali-ela police this morning.

The 51-year-old suspect and the girl are residents of Alawathenna in Udadompe off Hali-ela.The victim is a Grade eight student of a school of the area living with her parents and two brothers.

Investigations revealed that the suspect living in the adjacent house had taken the girl to a hut near his house when she was alone, had raped her and threatened her with death if she divulged the incident to anyone.

However, when she developed vomiting in the morning her mother took her to a doctor and obtained treatment but without any improvements.

Later, the girl had been taken to the Demodara Hospital where the doctors had examined her to find that she was about two months pregnant.

Police said she was admitted to hospital for a medical examination and further treatment. The suspect was arrested during investigations on her statement.

OIC Hali-ela police CI Sugath Ranasinghe is conducting further investigations.

The first doctor gave her medications without proper examinations? had he done his job properly, this child might have had time for an abortion. Doesnt this mason have children or grandchildren of this girl's age? Should be stone to death.

Firstly, create a strict law and order system with severe punishments — even the highest forms such as stoning to death or stronger measures — so that it becomes a lesson for anyone who even dares to think of committing such crimes. Rather than taking action only for political gains, Mr. President, please look into this matter seriously.

@Hasni - President is busy taking political revenge and stealing public funds, by the time, this guy's term period will be over. As usual the whole system will be back to base, with crimes committed on children.
