Maradana Police Environment Unit OIC arrested for soliciting bribe

The OIC of the Maradana Police Environment Unit has been arrested by Bribery Commission (BC) officials while soliciting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Director (Investigations) of Bribery Commission SSP Nuwan Asanka said the suspect, a Sub Inspector, was arrested near the Kuliyapitiya Divisional Court while accepting the bribe following a complaint by an individual in Dambadeniya.

He said the SI has allegedly sought the bribe to provide evidence in favour of the complainant over a road accident compensation case at the Kuliyapitiya Court.

The arrested Sub Inspector will be produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate's Court today.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
