Man shot dead in Dehiwala

A 34-year-old resident of Dehiwala was shot dead by an unidentified gunman near the A Quarters Sports Ground a short while ago.

Police said the victim, who sustained critical injuries in the attack, was rushed to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital but died shortly after admission.

According to police, the shooting was carried out by an unknown assailant who fled the scene immediately after the incident. 

The firearm used in the attack has not yet been recovered, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear at this stage.

The Dehiwala Police have launched an investigation into the shooting.
