Man rescued after climbing utility post demanding wife’s return

Colombo, August 20 (Daily Mirror) - A tense situation arose when a man climbed on top of a utility post, demanding that authorities take steps to bring back his wife currently employed overseas.

Police and the fire brigade were called to the scene and carried out a joint operation to bring the man down safely.

After several hours, he was rescued without injury.

Speaking to the media during the incident, the man explained that his three children were struggling without their mother’s presence and urged officials to facilitate her return to Sri Lanka.

Authorities said further inquiries into the incident are underway.

Some people hold workers for ransom of they want to leave job early, they are forced to pay 8 lakhs per 1 Yr of contract remaining even if employer is sexually harassing them and denting clean water and easy access to suitable food. Gov needs to stop this practice of selling our workers into almost slavery
