Man carrying goods on wheelbarrow arrested

A 40-year old man from Darga Town, who was seen in a video which circulated on social media today, carrying goods in a wheelbarrow without a face mask, has been arrested.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the Aluthgama Police arrested the man this evening on charges of violation of quarantine rules.

The video shows that this particular person was leaving a supermarket without a face mask, and he was carrying a wheelbarrow along with goods, the spokesman said.

He said he will be charged in the court in terms of quarantine and prevention of diseases ordinance.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya )

Quarantine law requires to wear the face mask but what I can't understand is when the quarantine law permits vehicles driven by a family under the bubble system now they are like Kankanis carrying essentials 2 to 3 miles .
